Several years teaching in the Royal Air Force, but made redundant ion 1997. Later, moved to Thailand in 2005 to pursue a teaching career.

Completed secondary school and further education whilst in the Royal Air Force. Took an on-line Degree in Business Administration to satisfy the demands of the Ministry of Education in Thailand.

Teaching experience in the Royal Air Force and almost 5 years as a TEFL teacher in Thailand: Have taught general English to grades 5-9 in a bilingual school and also taught at a private language school at weekends. I have 3 years experience of teaching Business English to corporate classes and private students at home.

I was formerly employed at the University of Central Lancashire through H.R. Solutions providing one-to-one tuition and support to higher education students.
My position at the university involved the teaching of English language and the tutoring of higher education students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD). This work involved the tutoring of Degree, Masters and PhD students in EAP, grammar, syntax, structure of essays also time management and sequencing skills. My duties also included motivating students to complete their studies and overcome barriers to learning.

My duties also included working with students of different cultures, lesson planning, keeping up to date with all paperwork concerning individual students, development of learning strategies and plans using an assessment of need also the reporting and monitoring of student’s progress.
I found the work to be most rewarding and felt a great sense of empathy towards my students, which helped me to carry out this role. The role demanded flexibility and adaptability in order to cope and respond to student’s individual needs and the various challenges encountered daily.

I have just completed and passed a PGDE (Level 6) ESOL course at the University of Bolton. I also hold a CELTA certificate.
I recently held a seat on a university panel investigating the role of the mentor in higher education. I have experience of one-to-one tutoring graduate students studying mentoring.

I hold a degree from the Lancashire Business School at the University of Central Lancashire and I am skilled in the delivery of English Language lessons to business clients. I am a native English speaker, hold full British passport and an Enhanced CRB certificate.

I have recently and successfully completed a four year degree in primary education where I am specialising in foreign languages and drama.
